Does anyone have any idea how many calories are burned at a standard/slow pace using a mini-exercise bike?

Here's an example of one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3297829

Does it burn the same amount of calories as a regular exercise bike? I would think not, but hoped someone would know.

It would be good to know exactly how many calories are burned, say, after 30 minutes of this type of exercise, for purposes of my own workout routine and diet as well. Thanks! :)

You notice that screw attachment at the top? That determines how much tension or resistance you get as you peddle. So you can't make a straight comparison since it varies with how hard you crank down on that screw.

Secondly, the amount of calories burned will vary according to how fast you move and other factors.

One problem that you will find with this unit is that it is so lightweight that you will find that it tends to slide across the floor away from you. This will get fairly frustrating to you.

If you really want to burn calories get on a "real" bike. 90 minute on my "road" bike, I can burn over 1500 calories. A regular exercise bike will come pretty close to this. Depending on the effort you put into your routine. Any exercise is better than none. However, I believe you could use your time and money on something (anything) other than the mini bike.
