I'm into learning new languages and currently, I want to learn swahili and become fluent in it. I know some basic stuff, but can anyone give me good tips on what would help me learn Swahili, and not just basics either. I want to get deep into it.

Kwa nini unapenda kijui Kiswahili? Wewe unakaa wapi? You have to be motivated. Clearly you are, but to learn any language you must have people to speak it to. Language is above all a means of communication. Perhaps you could go to East Africa as a volunteer and practise it there? You'd learn very quickly that way. It's a fascinating language. Check at your local university and see if you can find a student from there who would be willing to tutor you, or engage in conversational Swahili. Failing that, try a nearby mosque, as a number of people who speak Swahili are Islamic.

I don't speak it, so I can't really help you. Your question reminded me of Paster Roberts at Grace Lutheran Church in Ridgecrest, California. Many years ago, when I attended as a child, he taught the congregation a song & told a story using his hands to make sounds to add to the effect of the story. The song is entitled "Moongooneependo" (pardon the spelling, but that is the sound". It's an enjoyable memory.

The closest thing I know was Uhura off of Star Trek the original show. Her name meant something in Swahili.

go ahead, but I would reccomend learning a more popular language, such as spanish, french, russian, or german.
they will come in handy more than swahili
