If you don't mind pay for tranfer service. I suggest you call limousine service at airport better. I think from airport to main city not exceeding 1000 baht. That safe for you at midnight.

Taxi's are fine but don't believe what they tell you in the airport. Go directly to a waiting taxi and get in. Make them use the meter or don't accept more than 350 to get to khao san or surin.

And by the way. Thailand is not a tourist friendly place they are snakes who will try to rip you off at every turn. Well at least in the tourist areas at any rate, Never take the first priced offered and look around for better prices. Laugh at them and walk away, if they can do better they will call you back.

If you want to meet friendly people stay away from the tourist islands and cities like bangkok and Chang Mai. Better yet, go to Laos or Cambodia

Bangkok has a new airport, Suvarnabhumi, which is very modern and new. THey have also changed their taxi system since the old airport because they found that there was a taxi mafia system in the old airport. Previously you have to join the mafia to join the taxi queue. But now each taxi has to register with the official airport operations in order to wait in queue to pick up guests, those not registered are not allowed to enter the airport taxi queue (they have to have a sticker on the windscreen), so the airport actually has a record of the taxis picking guests up so you can quite assured.

However, if you are still unsure, it is better to get the hotel your boyfriend is staying in to arrange airport transfer for you. The driver will then wait for you at the departure hall once you get through customs. Just find your name and follow him. The hotel should have a record of the drivers they use. And anyway, your boyfriend really should be picking you up at the airport, but if he isn't, make him pay for the airport transfer. It's only fair. In fact, if he goes with the hotel transfer to the airport, he will still only pay one way, not two ways. So tell him not be such a jerk and to pick you up.

Hi,

Thailand is one of the safest places in the world for tourist so please don't feel freighten at all. When you come ot like all major airport these days it is bedlum alot of people asking you do you need a taxi etc. Please ignore them they are touts that mainly want to fleece you. Look for the offical taxi rank they charge you I think it was 50 but with the new airport it may be 100 baht. But taxi are very cheap and should only cost you 350 baht.

Limorcise are more epensive and from Don Mung it was 600 baht tops you pay 700 for drinin in a Merc.

Now onto the boyfirend issue, if he can't be **** making arrangements for you to get picked up seriously have a word with him...If he works as a teacher he should be able to know the local taxi driver who takes the kids to school etc. If he is an executive then he should know of a local friend who has a driver who can arrived it all.

If your are using a high class hotel they provide free buses, they are also free buses to town also.

For taxi drivers WILL always put his meter on if you do not see 35 baht have a word with him straight away.

Please note any tolls you go through YOU have to pay them not the drivers.

And whatever you do have FUN in Bangkok with your loved one...

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand has equally old-world charm and modern ease served up in a seemingly crazy fashion, but generally with a gracious look, see more with Hotelbye . At 1,600 square kilometres and checking, Bangkok is big, and the countless different parts can be bewildering. In Bangkok you are able to look at the Grand Palace, among the must-see on this city. The Grand Palace was integrated 1782 and for 150 decades your home of the Thai King, the Royal court and the administrative seat of government. The Grand Palace of Bangkok is just a Grand previous dame that remains to possess readers in awe with its beautiful structure and complex depth, all of which is really a happy salute to the imagination and craftsmanship of Thai people.

There are taxi meters just outside the airport and tons of services. I'm 20 - went to Bagkok in July, took a taxi outside the airport and was checking in 30 minutes later in the lobby. Dont' consider train or bus. Wait. there is bus service that the airport provides -> check if it works with your hotel (the service doesn't cover all hotels)

The taxi ride is safe - and will take about 40 minutes. If you want to be really safe - pay extra for the Airport Limosine (versus taxi). But - the others are correct - if you are nervous to travel alone at night in a strange city - he should meet you there!!! A taxi costs about $10 each way - not too much for him to pay to keep you happy - Right???

You'll be quite safe, the new airport is about 30 mins away by car from central bangkok.

I advice you get an airport taxi or limo when you arrive, cost will be about B350 for a taxi and B1000 for a limo.

sweetie he really shld pick u up. if he's not, then change your flight. it's awfully irresponsible of him not to.
I usually take taxi to the hotel from the airport. it's pretty safe, so far, since I'm here writing this to you, right?
Don't worry about the hotel, if you're paying a decent price, it's safe.
enjoy your trip!! there's great shopping there, make sure you check out all the places.
