Depends on the problem. For instance, if your alternator's gone bad, you might need a mechanic.
But if it's mental health you're talking about, you might need to try a new psychiatrist, change your prescription, or see a psychologist. Since I don't know you or your problem, or how long you've been with the Dr. and whatall you've tried, or even whether this question is about you, specifically, it's hard to say.
Does your psychiatrist recommend getting excercise, changing your diet, and taking vitamin supplements in addition to your main medicine? And are you taking his recommendations?
How many drugs have you tried? It can take several before finding the right one. Some require some sacrifice, like the MAOI's if you're depressed. Also, if you're depressed, you might want to look into taking a sleep study b/c sleep apnea can cause depression and a general feeling of fatigue and lack of energy.
It also helps to see a psychologist (who you just see to talk about your problems) in addition to a psychiatrist (who hands out drugs).
You need to give each medication a decent chance but if they're not working, make sure you talk to your Dr. about switching them. If your Dr. doesn't seem to be helping try someone else.
Don't expect immediate results.

Well i guess it depends on the source of the problem. Self help groups can be good, a positive role model, a good friend, family although they can sometimes be too close - though they always mean well!! Prayer to your God or Goddess, womyn who are like minded. Are you a youth or a young womon maybe there is a support group in your area. Sometimes i think this sort of thing may help or maybe there are counselling sites i am not sure. Remember you are beautiful and worthwhile and to be good and kind to yourself. Best of luck.

You are the only one who can help yourself. You hold the power in your heart and in your brain. You are what you think. Start thinking good, positive thoughts. Be good and do good.
Go to the library and start reading some books by Shakti Gawain, Barbara Rose, Wayne Dyer, Stephen Covey, David Burns. Way cheaper than psychiatrists!
Something else you can do is find support groups in your area. Call your local United Way. They may be able to help you find some, or your local hospital. They are usually free. Good health to you!

Patience without psychiatric help. Just be patient and when opportunity knocks be quick to react. You have to learn to take advantage of any and all chances that exist to improve your life.

if you have tried a psychiatrist and medication, then your next bet would be a psychologist. They can listen and make suggestions but it is up to you to follow through if you want to get better.

Be open minded and try meeting with counselors until you find one you really connect with, it's going to be your decision ultimately whether you want to change/get better.
