She got wet today by turning over her milk in the kennel while nobody was home. (It's kind of cold today.)Now she is sneezing pink mucus and coughing. We gave her a piece of baby aspirin so far. I'm not sure if I should be worrying about her mucus color or not. What do you all think?

She's still with the mother. She stopped letting her nurse a couple of weeks ago. I will take to the vet tomorrow (the vet closes early in my area). We just need something to help her make it through the night.

OK, you do NOT get a cold from being wet in the cold. You get it from a VIRUS. She has to have been incubating the virus for a few days.
She should not be having milk either.
You do not give baby aspirin without checking with the vet first.
6 weeks is too young to be away from the mother and littermates.
She NEEDS TO SEE A VET!!!!!!!!!!!

First--cow's milk is not good for puppies and kittens. Yes, they love it, but it gives them diarrhea and they cannot get all the nutrition out of it. Plain water is the way to go! If there was just a little sneezing or coughing, it might be just that milk got up her nose, but with a puppy that young, I'd go straight to the vet, especially if she has not had her vaccinations.

There are some nasty diseases that progress very quickly (like in a day or two) from something that doesn't look bad to something fatal. I know there are some people medicines you can supposedly give dogs, but I can never keep straight which ones and I'm scared to death to make a mistake, so I don't.

If you don't have a vet, find a vet. If it's after hours and you can afford it, there may be a 24 hour animal hospital within a reasonable drive from where you are. They are more expensive, but if she is getting worse and you are worried, it is better to be safe than sorry.

If you are afraid the vet will be too expensive, speak privately with the vet or someone in the vet's office about a reduced rate or being able to make payment arrangements. If just got your minpin from a shelter or rescue organization, they may have a vet affiliated with them who might work on a sliding scale. Even if you purchased your puppy from a breeder, the breeder should probably be notified if/that the puppy is sick, as her getting ill may have nothing to do with her spilling her milk.

Keep her bedding dry, and make sure she has plenty of fresh water. If she's not drinking or getting lethargic, you may need to get help fast!

Hope I'm not being a worry-wort--I don't want to alarm you, but I've seen how quickly young animals can get seriously ill--especially when they don't yet have all their vaccinations.

Take care!

I agree with the others. You need to get this pup into a vet ASAP.

Just like a human, a dog cannot get a cold from getting wet, or being exposed to cold weather. Colds are caused by a virus and you must be exposed to the virus in order to catch the cold.

Pink mucous color means blood. It is probably more than a cold. Did you just get the pup? May have bought a sick one. Take it to the vet.

I would not give her anything else until you see the vet. You shouldn't JUST give your puppy human meds without first consulting your vet. It could be very harmful. I would keep the puppy warm and allow it fluids(water only). Milk is NOT necessary. By now it should be started on puppy food.

Firstly, the puppy should stay with it's mother until AT LEAST 8 WEEKS OF AGE.

SECONDLY TAKE YOUR DOG TO A VET.

if you want her well quick, then get her to a vet quick!

also never leave food and/or water or pee pads in her crate. the crate should be just for sleeping.

if liquid got in her nose, she could develop pneumonia
