When we are dead we are gone. God did not tell Adam he was going to burn forever ( and how does that work anyway ? ),
NO HE DID NOT, he said for dust you are and to dust he would return.
Ezekiel chapter 18 God says that the soul that is sinning it itself will die.
Humans are not immortal the soul does not carry on living endlessly. God told Noah that the blood is the soul and not to eat any flesh with it's blood. ( see Genesis ) after they come out the ark )
Hell , as in a place of torment after living on earth, is a false teaching from people who do not know what the bible actually says .
We die and are hoping in this life that we may be by the undeserved kindness of God , although no one is perfect , may be raised up in the resurrection in the future to life on earth again.
Acts 24 v15
Have a read of these verses and think about it. what do you think ?

Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 3:10
as it is written,
"There is none righteous, not even one;
Isaiah 53:6
All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.
So, all of these verses are true and apply to everyone except you?
Jesus said there is none good but God alone. Of course he was not talking about you! Or was He?

People can feel guilty for things they do because they realize that they hurt someone or because they know they could have done better. It doesn't have to have anything to do with god or hell.
It is true that the more one ridicules, the more guilt they probably feel though.

We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. If we refuse to accept the only way out and forgiveness of sin, (Jesus Christ) then we are sending ourselves to hell.
God didn't have to provide a way out, but through His love He did. The way, truth and life is only through His only Son, Jesus Christ.
