I think it might be bacteria but for most people used to invertebrate/vertebrate zoology thinking in a more macro world insects have the greatest species richness. Although many species have yet to be classified as they haven't been discovered, estimates range up to 30 million species on the planet of which approximately 60% are insects. At present only approximately 2 million species of all species have been classified. Unfortunately there is insufficient funding in biodiversity research to provide for all species to be classified.

birds -- finches.. They are the "Animals" with the greatest number of species/diversity.
