Besides that it is believing something to a great extent, including emotionally, without any evidence or even with evidence contradicting it, what is faith? I was once a Christian, and when I look at it rationally now, that is all faith was.

Faith is the excuse for ignorance. If ignorance is bliss, religionists must be having never-ending explosive orgasms.

Faith is the bridge between idea and proof. Think of the chair, you have the idea that it will hold you, you don't know but the concept sounds reasonable. At some point you believe that it would hold you if you sat in it. Your faith in what you believe allows you to go and sit down. This is the proof. The problem with religions with heaven and hell as their basic platform is that the proof comes at the end of someones life. The unfortunate thing is that these ppl are not coming back to tell us they were right or wrong. Therefore all we have is the faith in the belief.

Faith is things hoped for that you cannot see. You cannot see the air you breath but you know it's there. All it takes is a mustard seed of faith to make your prayers realities. Once a christian always a christian. God doesn't let His chosen ones get far away.

To help you understand, it is faith to understand the unseen and that is to believe in what you cannot see and calling those things as though it was. Like God. Bless is the man that believe and have not seen.

Faith is believing something that you can't see. Just as Jesus said to Thomas, "you see and believe, but blessed are they who do not see and yet believe". We cannot see Jesus with our eyes...but I believe all that is said about Him in the bible. Through my experience and many years of study, I have "faith" that all God has promised, He will perform.

in the gospels jesus shows us faith and its benefits,he gives us ways to gain and have faith and its benefits. to ultimately explain faith i don't think is possible, we can rationale certain aspects of it, such as feelings/emotions as you said but we can only know what the capacity of human understanding of what fith is,i think there is one or more dimension to it and we will only find out the rest if we are permitted to heaven i.e if we have been saved. hope you find god again, either way have a nice day.
