It's silly but cute. Kittens do this. He's into the experience!

That's completely normal. I have ten cats and they're all freakin' crazy. Some cats will scratch the wall when they use the litterbox. It makes no sense! But it's normal.
Just make sure that your kitten isn't eating the litter. Also, some litters cat get stuck in a kitten's bottom, so make sure yours won't.

My cat balances on the edges of her box so she can completely avoid touching the litter. If there is paper on the floor ANYWHERE within 20 feet of the box, she puts it in her box to be even safer about not touching it! All cats have their weird little habits when it comes to their litter boxes. At least he's using it! Feel free to chuckle at him, though. :-)

That's what kittens do. I have a covered litter box cuz my cats were throwing so much litter around and it seems to help.

well, my cat had 8 kittens in july, and now we only have 3. i think your cat is either picky, or finding a spot that doesnt already have poop burried under it. some cats smell the spot they burried to make sure it doesnt have any odor coming out, some just lightly cover it so you cant see it.
