To make friends with a shy guy, you have to take into account his lack of experience and poor understanding of romantic relationships.

Forget the romantic hints and innuendos. Such indirect friend-making behavior from a woman only confuses him and makes him unsure about what he should do. Be honest, open, and direct with him.

If you like the guy, then tell him this in no uncertain terms. And if you want to go out on a date with him, then ask him out.

A shy guy may have an overall IQ of 150. But his romantic IQ may be in the low 60's due to lack of previous learning and experience. And you have to adjust your behavior accordingly, if you want to succeed in making friends with him.

I think while flirting you should ask for his number or screen name, that way you can ask him alone sometime. Tell him when you ask him though, that you had to use the computer or phone because you couldn't get him alone since his friend was always there. I wish you the best of luck! Go get 'em!

let him know that you like him, but TAKE IT EASY. he's probably terrified of a relationship, maybe you could make the first move or let him know you like him. get to know him better (to put him at ease). Being on the other end of the spectrum, i couldn't say, only i know what it feels like to be shy, i once was and still am sort of. but you need to put him at ease and not go too fast with things, or he will freak out and back off.

See what he's into *outside* of school, and go see him there. Pretend like you're into it if you have to. A friend of mine knew this guy was into everything Brazilian, so she started going to Brazilian jujitsu fights, hanging at the Brazilian restaurant...they've been married 2 years now!
