Our shelter decided to use Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys (which I just found out was one of my new answers! :)
Any ideas how to show the connection between the story and our shelter animals when we decorate the float?

Hi Speedy, it was me who posted this idea on your former previous question :~)

Only use the characters who were on Misfit Island (Charley in the box, the red-head rag doll, the train with square wheels, etc), along with Rudolph, Hermey and King Moonracer (the lion king of the island). If you're able to include music on your float, there's the wonderful song "We're the Island of Misfit Toys", from the soundtrack, that you could play.

Are there going to be live animals on your float too? The people taking care of them should wear elf and santa-like hats.

I think it's a great organization that your involved in, and wish you all the best!

Maybe dressing up the animals as reindeer and toys. You could show how the animals are misfits and need new good homes. Maybe people would think they are really cute and adopt an animal from your shelter. I would make sure they are pretty trained though before putting them on a float.

The toys were sent to the island because no one loved them. Your animals were sent to the shelter because no one loved them. State somewhere on the float, that the animals are looking for someone to love them.
