My Gracie has allergies in the spring and the fall, and she's just as miserable as any person would be - I've been giving her half of a Benedryl tablet when she needs it, and they really help. They will make your pup sleepy though, so don't be alarmed if he has a nice long nap!

My daughter's Lab was stung by a bee a few years ago, and the vet said to give him benedryl right away and bring him in (his face was swelling up badly). I don't remember how much they had to give him, and given the size of your dog, I would be afraid of giving him too much, but it will work on dogs.

Benedryl is safe for dogs - one small pill - based on childs dose. Be sure that the face itching is allergin related or you may be doing more worse than good.
