I think a lot of the Christian missionaries went to Africa because they believed they were doing the right thing. They went out of true concern for the people there.
You may or may not share their beliefs, but you cannot assume that their intentions were bad. You say to "impose God". I think a lot of them probably wanted to share their beliefs, which had great meaning for them.
By the way, the Christian religion was established in parts of Africa long before it reached Central, Northern, and Eastern Europe. Not to mention the western hemisphere, including North America, where I am guessing you live.
There's a very ancient tradition of Christianity in parts of North Africa, which you might be aware of. But there is also a very ancient tradition of both Christianity and Judaism in Ethiopia.
Just something you might find of interest. Thank you for the question.

People were living perfectly well before the missionaries went to Africa to impose God's will, however, how is Britain and America going to impose 'God's will' on 1.5billion Muslims.

When the missionaries went to africa, africans had their lands and the missionaries had their bible. The missionaries asked them to close their eyes and accept the bible. And when they opened their eyes, they had the bible and the missionaries had the land. This is an open secret. All over the history of christianity, this is what's happened and this is what is happening.

What do you mean "when missionaries went..."
They are still there now. Helping the poor. Nursing the sick. Trying to help tiny farm villages improve their living conditions. Trying to end the genocide in Darfur.
You make it sound like there was some hostile intent. To "impose" God. They went to help. As we still do today.

Like an early version of "The Latter Day Saints" you mean?
The early missionaries didn't only take the word of God with them; they also took the viruses that caused measles and flu and such like; which almost eradicated their available 'flock' before they could be 'rounded up'.
