And you are surprised that you get a thumbs down when you question someone's core belief? Question all you want. If the question is sincere and not taunting, you should not get a thumbs down, and if you do, try to accept the criticism and wait for the answers. This board does usually furnish some good thoughtful answers to sincere questions. Taunting usually draws taunting.

Please understand that the Bible has gone through many translations of languages for thousands of years AND that there are many words and conveyances that are simply un-translatable from one language to another.

The original text has (un-doubtably) been altered BUT what I ask you to sincerely consider is that this Book STILL carries much of it's original beauty and truth. It is un-paralleled in its' guidance offered to the sincere seeker.
Consider the Bible as a newly plowed field that someone has walked through and thrown hand fulls of pearls everywhere. Sometimes you have to dig and get dirty a little but I assure you that those "pearls" are still there, you just have to look.

Many Christians are simply unaware of the historical details to defend what they have inner-knowledge of and please excuse my example but how would you explain sight to a blind person anyway?

I hope this will help give you the understanding that it would do the world so much better if you were asking questions like, "Anyone notice how Christians give thumbs-UP whenever you ask a question that REVEALS the bible? It's your choice whether you go seeking conformation of uplifting things or things that bring people down. Life is too short and we truly are ALL family.

The only time, you get a thumbs down from me, is when you slander God. When you deny Him, So if your getting thumbs down, doesn't that tell you something ?? Instead of getting a thumbs UP, your getting a thumbs DOWN ! It is like saying Good or Bad !! Can't be that difficult to understand. Why do you fight against what is right. RIGHT or WRONG !!

It is a Pavlovian response. A conditioned reflex carried out without thinking, a defensive response against the fear of being wrong. They are very likely nice folk - but with conditioned responses, or brainwashed as some would put it1.

No. I only give a thumbs down if it is a rude/insulting question, rather than a question that encourages thought.

I'm sure you will find that it's OK, "to prove all things and hold fast to that which is good." Even questioning the Bible.

Yes, it's your right to question anything that you don't understand. In my opinion the WORD stands on its own merit. And if there's doubt about its authenticity it will be revealed to whomever that seeks knowledge/wisdom, and is opened to understanding.

Peace,

Hope
