Mainly biology: we are hard-wired or pre-programmed to find it enjoyable, or at least almost all of us. Culture is important too, though: some cultures like the American culture are sex obsessed, whilst the Europeans tend to have a more lax attitude. There is no way that everyone would agree to give up sex for even a few days, much less a few years, sorry! Sex is important to me and everyone else because it satisfies an urge that almost all of us have. Think of what it would be like to not have any food, for instance. You would feel pretty miserable! this is what a life w/o sex can be like.

Well, this has been a problem in my life also. I was thinking to postpone sex until marriage, but I couldn't help it :D
But anyways, the problem is not why it is so important, but it is an expression of love. It is not really important like "hey, i have to have sex with her otherwise she will leave me..." no, not at all. Sex is like spice in your love life. Without sex, love still thrive but not as "spicy"... something like that, for me. So this way, for example during my time away from my girl, we don't have sex for a while but we still love each other and stay faithful.

Are you out of your mind!!!! Its one of the most beautiful natural pleasurable experiences life has to offer that is BUILT in to us as human beings. Sex is very special, and you are obivously not with a partner that is sexually right for you if you feel that you want to go without it.

Sex is part of our animal nature. Our STD's would go away if people used condoms, too. Why don't you suggest that instead?

sex is indefinable --- its joy --- intimacy ---- its making babies ---- its passion ---- its bringing 2 people already close even closer

it is something that must be experienced --- with a willing partner --- age experience do not matter ---- you gain experience with your partner --- sex gets better the more you do it with a single person

disease and preganacy can be controlled easily and can be made fun as part of foreplay
