No, because at 16 most teenagers are still in their immaturity phase and are influenced too much by pop culture and celebrities to care about politics. Most teenagers wouldn't really care.
I'm a 16 year-old and a senior in high school and I see this type of behavior in my government class all the time. Only about 5 people in a class of 40 actually care, pay attention, and have opinions about politics.

I would say that one out of every 200 16 yr olds is fit to vote. Some kids are pretty smart and adept. Most though, generally are not. No offense, that's just the way it is.
So on the whole, as a blanket, no, 16 year olds should not vote.
Is 18 a good age to vote? Sure, why not. You can join the army at 18, but you can't drinik a beer until 21. It's still a good law, though. Maybe if they only let 18-20 yr olds in the military drink, we could have more soldiers.
Anyway...what?

I think there's probably a few teens that age who would be capable of voting responsibly, but I think at 16, most are not mature enough to vote. Most people don't have much life experience at 16, so how are you going to be able to fully understand what you're even voting for?

I DO think however, that there should be ONE age at which a person is deemed an adult. None of this "you can vote at 18, join the army & die for our country at 18, but you can't have a beer till you're 21" crap. I'm sorry, but if you're old enough to die for our country, you should be able to go have a drink with your friends before you do.

I was drafted into the army at age 19. Couldn't vote but could be killed during VietNam conflict. They later changed the age from 21 to 18. Now your question is most 16 yo responsible enough to vote......some are and some aren't.

No i dont feel they should because a majority of them would pretty much base there vote on who their mom and dad is voting for rather then looking at the broader picture. These 16 year olds are into hanging out with frinds and watching real world and american idol on TV there not gonna sit through a debate on television long enough to cast a good vote so i would say heck nooooo

I think teens at age 16 should vote because we have a right to let are voices be heard and to choose who we want to run.

i'm 16 and i know how teen voting works. when we have class elections, most kids don't pick the best leader, they just pick who is their friend. so, like right now kinky friedman is running for something in texas (see, i don't even know what! why should I vote!?), and a lot of my friends are like "Cool! his name is kinky! you should vote for him!" teenagers don't make rational decisions because we haven't had to live all alone in the real world and take care of ourselves so we don't know anything about taxes, etc. of course, this doesn't mean EVERY teenager, but definitely a majority.

Though I feel that voting is a positave thing for anyone, I do not feel that a 16 year old is socially mature enough to make a decision like that. I feel it is best left to an adult.

17 would be ideal so they can work throught the process a couple years while still in school. Also 17yr olds can marry, join the military, and are held accountable as adults when they commit a crime. Also most are young adults in their senior year. Many 17yr old young adults live on their own attend college, tech school etc also.

No, they usually aren't concerned with political stuff. People tell me that I'm the most conservative Republican they know, yet at 16 I didn't give a hoot or holler about anything like that, just boys and clothes!
