I watched this on tv the other week you are emptying the litter tray too often the cat needs to recognice his own smell for a litter tray to work so you do clear off poops daily but do not clean the tray every day only once a week then he/she recognises it's their loo and will go there and also shut your bathroom door!

Have him checked out by a vet. Improper elimination is usually caused by illness. An infection that causes pain while eliminating will cause a cat to avoid the box because it associates the box with the pain. So first things first, make sure he's completely healthy.
If he is, he could be pissed off about something. Or he could just hate the location of the pan. Try moving it.....try geting a covered box.....try changing litters. There are so many variables. Pick up a copy of Cats for Dummies. It's an excellent reference book that covers all this lovely stuff.
Good luck!

I would make sure you put the litter spot in a very private area. I have a cat that will not use his litter box unless he has 100% privacy, this includes humans and his buddies watching him. I have our litter box in a hallway closet and I keep the door slightly cracked. A roof/lid over the litter box can really help too. If you don't want to buy a lid you can place a large box over the top an cut a doorway for him. Good luck!

at the start, it coincided with shifting to a sparkling abode and that under pressure your cat. Cats hate substitute. If somebody lived interior the abode till now with a puppy and there replaced right into a fragrance interior the floor that the cat ought to smell it would probable use that place because it incredibly is very own place to pee. Secondly, if no longer the circulate then have the cat examined by capacity of the vet. unusual clutter container habit is each and every from time to time a symptom of urinary tract an infection. Rule that out. If it incredibly is not it then you definitely ought to retrain. save the cat in a customer room or your room or one extra bathing room. circulate to PetsMart and seem for a clutter noted as Dr. Elsey's Cat charm to clutter. It is offered in a pink and black plastic bag, somewhat pricier than different litters. the sturdy area is which you will in basic terms ought to apply it a month or 2. It has a pheromone interior the clutter that pulls a cat to it. you are able to no longer smell it yet cats can. The cat won't be able to be roaming loose throughout the time of the retraining technique. interior the bag is a publication that explains a thank you to apply the clutter and a greenback off coupon for next bag. Foster's have used it for years and it very customarily works and that i've got used it for my cats. So get your cat set as much as re-prepare if it incredibly is have been given an sparkling bill of well being from the vet. while the cat is interior the retraining room placed its nutrition toys mattress etc with it. circulate to oftentimes. it incredibly is not punishment, it incredibly is training. Get a sturdy enzyme air purifier from the puppy furnish or Odoban from abode Depot (my fav all time puppy cleansing product) and get each and all of the fragrance of previous errors off the flooring or carpet. in case you have have been given one clutter container interior the abode, placed out a 2d one while the cat is in a position to rejoin the kinfolk after re-training. sturdy good fortune!

Some cats do not like that titter tray, it is hard and often small to move around. Cats and dogs have to dig to bury their waste naturally but when the tray is hard they can not dig, they feel uncomfortable.
When you see that your cat is about to do it, put the tray under and hold it while you praise him. Little by little he will understand that there is another way.
f not, place a few newspapers on the place where he does it in the bathroom. It is easier just to dispose of and replace it immediately.

Does your cat have any other cat sibblings in the home? My 2 year old cat used to share boxes with her 6 year old sister (by adoption) used to poop on the floor regularly. tried every metheod from disapling her with a spray bottle to washing the floor with vinegar. Finally just bough a 2nd litterbox. the problem stopped going on 3 weeks no poop on the floor. Yor kitty may just want it's own toilet.
If thats not it & kitty acts wierd in other ways, off it's feed crys while using the box may wanna take it and one of those poop samples to the vet. sometimes it's trying to tell you that something is wrong with its's tummy.

shut the bathroom door, and any other doors to rooms you dont want him to go into, just give him access to his litter tray and keep in the same place. do not clean too thoroughly every day. once a week will do.
