What is the difference between the Holy Bible and a Good News Bible?

The term Holy Bible usually refers to the original King James Version of scripture. The Good News translation is a newer more modern version. It is meant to read a bit more like a story, not necessarily a word for word translation from original scripture.
There are many versions to choose from these days. Many people have gone away from King James version to a more modern translation like the New International Version, New American Standard, and I know a lot of people who like The Message Bible. You should choose wheat you like to read best. If you are looking for a serious study type translation go with King James or New International version. If you are just wanting to read and understand the stories go with a more relaxed version like the Good News or the Message.
Blessings.

The content. The Good News Bible is a "thought for thought" translation where the Holy Bible such as the King James version and New American Standard Bible are "word for word" translations.

Thought for Thought translations allow for the translators to interpret and input their thoughts on what the passages mean and that is what is written rather than word for word translations that accurately write what was in the most reliable source without any interpretation of what the passage means or should mean.

It depends on what you want?

For the Old Testament/ Tanakh I would suggest a JPS English from Hebrew Translation

For both Old and New Testament I would suggest a King James for accuracy but an English Standard Version for easier reading

The Good News Bible is a Bible written with already concieved Christian Theology to make you feel a certain way about each verse instead of just giving you a verse and letting you decide yourself.

For my own validity- I am a Judiac Studies Major at the Univeristy of Cincinnati...so knowing this stuff is my thing,haha... But the most accurate availible version of the Bible wuld be the King James, it's just harder to read

"What is the difference between the Holy Bible and a Good News Bible?"

These are just books... but not any old book, Oh no. These are self proclaimed 'holy' books that spread evil, superstition, hearsay and division of communities amongst the masses.

"The Bible" - man kinds pathetic attempt at explaining the world around him. I think that any supernatural gods that may or may not exist would be utterly ashamed and embarrassed to be associated with this rubbish.

What the difference? Nothing, they are both clearly works of fiction that were created by man... No supernatural "god" played any part in the creation of this non-sense

BTW: How do you posters above *know* that one version is more *accurate* than another??? What makes you think that *you* a lone individual can VALIDATE any of that religious hearsay... Sometime i wanna say "stop the world i wanna get off"... but then only 1/6 of the worlds population are in to this delussional jesus cult thing.. leaving the other 5/6 of the world to live in the real world... Its a funny old world ! :-)

Good News Bible is great reading. It's not a great study Bible though. For that you should read the King James Version. It's the ONLY reliable HOLY BIBLE.

The "Holy Bible" comes in many language versions. Though all in English, they each have their own benefits in presenting the God's Word to us.

The Good News Bible is just one version. For the version that is most accurate to the origin manuscripts, you'll want a King James Version.

Like the difference between a bucket of cow manure and a pile of horse manure, the bucket. Getting truth from any bible is like trying to squeeze custard out of a weasel's butt.

It is a particular modern translation of the Bible, using certain linguistic techniques.

I see lots of lies and no real; answers to your question. It sounds like you are comparing the kjv and "Good News" translations. The kjv is "early modern English" so it is essentially 400 year old English. GNT is a simple, recent version, but there are several BETTER recent translations that are still simple to read. It is good, but look at these before you but one:

NIrV
CEV
NLT
... several sites have these where you can search or select verses.
