Someone told me that could mean she has artheritis? I know I need to take her to the vet to know for sure...but could that be a possibility? She is 6.

My dogs do that ALL THE TIME TOO. Its probably just a dog thing, i really wouldn't worry about it too, too much, but just keep and eye on her if it gets worse. It does get VERY annoying, all u need to do, is get some Bitter Apple Spray. U can get it online, @ a pets store, or even @ walmart. Put it on your dog where she keeps licking, it wont make her stink so don't worry about that. :) :) :) animals HATE the taste of that spray!

If she is licking to the point to where she is loosing hair or itching a lot then she could have an allergy. It could be anything to something blooming to a food allergy. You shoud get her seen by a vet to try to determine what it is. If she just like to lick then it could be a mental thing like an obsession. Some dogs can get fixated on doing certain things and will become obsessed. Try distracting her everytime she start to do it by playing with her. But I would definalty consider consulting a vet about it first.

It could be arthritis. And yes you need to take her to the vet. There are some human otc drugs that your vet can tell you about and also a terrific prescription drug that gave my dog 3 more good years w/o suffering.
