All Saints Day is a feast for all the people who have been canonized as Saints with a capital "S". All Souls Day is for all who have died in the faith kind of an all saints day with a small "S". Today is All Saints Day and tomorrow is All Souls Day. Today is a Holy Day of Obligation but, tomorrow is not but, it is a good idea to go to Mass tomorrow and pray for everyone in your family that has died.

November 2 is All Souls Day, which celebrates and remembers everyone and anyone who has died.

November 1 is All Saints Day, which honors all saints. These include people who have been officially recognized by the church as well as men and women who have already died but lived exemplory lives of faith.

The celebrations weren't created to counter Halloween, per say. Several ancient cultures - the Celts among them - celebrated the dead or the afterlife around this time of the year. The Church decided to "play along" and schedule their sorta kinda similar feasts at the same time figuring it would play into the culture people were already used to. The name "Halloween" comes from "All Hallow'ds Eve" meaning the night before the day of all holy ones. It's only been in use for about 200 years.

All Souls Day and All Saints Day have been invented via the Christian Church whilst it invaded Europe as a potential to objective and entice the "commoners" far flung from celebrating Samhain in an attempt to eliminate paganism in Europe.

All saints day is an official holy day of obligation for Catholics, when all Catholics are obliged to attend Mass in honor of and along with all those who now dwell in heaven with God.

All souls day is a day of remembrance for all the souls who haven't yet been admitted to heaven, but are still in Purgatory, awaiting their final purification.

It is not an official holy day, but is an important feast day. All Catholics are urged to attend Mass for these souls on that day.

All Saints Day is to commemorate the Saints. All Souls Day is to commemerate the dead.

Ane one point, this is the ONLY time a pagan holiday came AFTER a Christian one. All Sainys day was practiced PRIOR to Halloween. Saints day was called All Hallows, wich led pagans to practice All Hallows eve, or Hallowen.

Words. Isn't Christianity great? They twist things so they seem more in line with Christian beliefs.
