A few years ago (2-3) I started drinking probably double the amount of water that I previously had. Ever since, I have gained 20 pounds. Is this in any way a correlation? Is it possible to gain weight from drinking water? P.S. I am in high school and I dont have diabetes

You can gain water weight but, I haven't heard of a case that severe...maybe perhaps your just putting on some extra LB's.

It's probably just because you're in high school and has nothing to do with the water. When I was in high school I gained and lost all kinds of weight. Within the course of 4 months I lost 30 pounds. Then I gained it all back again in about the same amount of time.

its definitely possible to gain weight from water...I'm not sure about 20 lbs though. Its really good for you to drink lots of water, even if you dont like what the scale says. my guess is that it might be partially the water, but probably more other things. for example, if you're drinking more water because youre getting more exercise, then you could be gaining more muscle (which weighs more than fat). If youre in high school, then you are invariably going to be gaining weight just because youre body is still working to make you optimally fertile.

You're in high school, so you're still growing. Of course you're going to gain weight as you grow into an adult; I'm sure the water has nothing to do with it.

if you are drinking tap water there is chlorine and floride and other things in there that you dont need and are not good for you if you will drink distilled or purified water you will lose weight naturally because chlorine in the water you drink makes you retain water.
