If you believe in the Adam and Eve story, what if: Eve disobeyed and picked the apple, BUT Adam refused to take a bite. How do you think the world as we know it would have evolved?

I know this question cannot have a definitive answer. I only ask it as a hypothetical "what if". It's a good mental exercise that may lead to other unthought of questions. I'm a Sherlock Holmes fan.

Women would be oppressed at the whim of Man.
Woman would be viewed as the weaker sex since she can't defend herself.
Man would make up reasons to subvert women.
Oh, actually, I guess there would be no difference in the world. In either case, Man finds a reason to blame Woman for all of the world's ills.

Eve answered that herself. She would have been banished and Adam would be left a lone man in the garden of eden. The earth would have remained in its paradisical status until the inhabitants of the garden did eat the forbidden fruit. There would have been no children until God brought in another woman. Adam realized the situation he was in and therefore ate that mankind could come into the world according to God's plan. Eve was deceived by the serpent, Adam was not. He intentionally transgressed that man might be.

Good question. Most people whether Christian or not have probably asked this same question. In fact, I thought about it alot as a kid. Now, I don't worry about discovering the answer as much as I once did. If God wanted us to know everything, he would have given us everything. I think the story wouldn't have changed though, honestly. Reason: Adam loved Eve and he would have followed her no matter what the cost because he TRUSTED her. Alot of times we TRUST our loved ones so much we don't think that they will lead us the wrong way. So, he didn't have a reason NOT to trust her. So, again, I think the stroy would have remained the same. The scenario wouldn't have been altered.

well for people who did not know doing wrong was why does everyone blame them. You dont get mad at a two year old kid who gets into trouble for the first time because you told him not to do something and he does it anyway. He cant comprehend what wrong or disobeying is and the punishment for it if he had never made a mistake and its the same with adam and eve, they could not comprehend what disobeying meant.

If Adam refused, then I would assume that he would not be thrown out of Eden. Which means, that only Eve would be roaming Earth.
Through parthenogenesis, she could still populate the planet. There would be plenty of cat-fights, but we wouldn't have as many wars. lol
PS. Parthenogenesis (or virgin birth...ahem) describes the growth and development of an embryo or seed without fertilization.
That of course, means that there would be no men! Ahhh....... lol

Obviously Eve would have been expelled from the garden, just like in the original story, this time to start a race of lesbian hermaphrodites, whilst Adam twiddles his thumbs for eternity as a lonely goody-goody; sinless, innocent and without death or the need to reproduce.

Adam would have been given a new woman when Eve died and they would have lived happily ever after in perfect health and happiness.

For the record, I don't believe this. But what the hell, it's a fun question.
Um.....I'm not sure things would be any different. Women would still be persecuted and considered second-class citizens.
Or perhaps Eve's audacity would have been punished with death, and god would have had to create yet a THIRD (don't forget Lillith) wifey for ol' Adam.
Or going with Scenario B, but god would have given up on the babes and the species would have died out and we wouldn't be here today.
Amen!

what if Adam had stopped Eve from eating the apple in the first place.
but then women say they have always known more than the men so guess they would be still in control.
