THE is spelled different ways in spanish:
El = (masculine, singular)
La= (feminine, singular)
Los= ( masculine, plural)
Las = (feminine , plural)
The second word (subject) decides which one of this to use, for example :
El burro (the donkey)
Burro is a masculine word and we are talking about just one burro , so we use EL.
La vaca (the cow)
Vaca is a feminine word and we are talking about just one cow (vaca), this means is singular, so we use LA.
Los burros (the donkeys)
Notice is a plural word but it is still masculine (male) word.
Las vacas ( the cows)
Notice the plural, it is still a feminine (female) word.
THE doesn't mean LE or LO. Where did you get that from, you guys?.
