Actually, there is a difference. Dating, well...I'm sure you know what it is.
Courting is sorta like dating, but it is slightly differ ant and now, the only people who really do it much are those who are religious and actually care about saving sex for marriage and people who are looking for someone to marry. Courting is not a 'sport', as some would describe dating. Anyway, say a guy wanted to court you...first he would ask your parents for permission and if they said yes, you and him would start hanging out together with either groups with your friends or family. You wouldn't hold hands or kiss or anything physical. You'd only be getting to know each other. If you ended up really being attracted to each other and you decided you would like to get married, your would both ask your family's advice and then the guy would ask your dad for your hand in marriage and you would get married. Big difference from dating!

Courting is when you are dating someone to marry them. Basically it is the old term for "engaged". It is the engagement period.

practically peaking there is no difference, they are the same thing. courting is a old-fashioned term. i think in that case, it would imply more formal atmosphere w/ shaperones and such. but they are the same thing.
