We can't leave but shouldn't stay. Who knows what we should do. Bush, Cheney, and Rummy certainly don't. Cheney said it was almost over a year and a half ago. Bush says he's not satisfied but he really isn't changing anything. Rummy is just a confused self righteous old coot.

No facts here. Just my opinion: That the world is getting more interactive, and the dominant form of government CANNOT be violent dictatorship.
I believe that ruling by brute force will be eliminated in the next 100 years. Iraq and Afghanistan are as good a place to start as any. GO USA !!

At this point in time stay. We have already gotten to far and too much has been accomplished it would be unsafe and humiliating to let our enemies think they won back Iraq. We need to stay there until Iraq is completely ready for what could come at them. If we want to give them baby steps we could stay In Kuwait and if anything does happen we are very close to Baghdad. But for the moment we need to stay there since we have gotten too involved.

Stay, we need a military stronghold in this region.
Now this is for no other reason then our own American interests.
its not good for moral or business, unless your in those businesses that get military contracts or oil, it's just because we are no longer warring with Russia we are warring with the radical islamics and this is where they hang.
So we need to stay.
From a military standpoint
Plus we have killed about 60k Iraqi's who all have at least 3 people that care about them and as many as 20. it would be safe to say that if we leave there would be a million odd people looking to get to the US and blow some things up.
So better to stay there so its easy for them to hit us, it will be our soldiers and that will hurt military families for decades but looking at the big picture, this is our planet now, this is our world, losing 2 k soliders a year beats the hell out of your grandmother getting blown up at the grocery store.

Either the U.S stays in Iraq or leaves now right away, makes absolutely not difference, same result.
Not possible to "build strong democrazy" in a country with other priorities.

Look, there are no good options at this point. Sometimes when you make a truly terrible decision, there is no good way out. You can learn that by playing chess or poker.

My main argument for not going into Iraq was that the people in charge of the American government are barely capable of not ruining our system, much less instituting a decent system in a powderkeg of a country they barely know anything about.

So now 150,000 kids are over there trying to save for college, getting blown up, poisoned, and irradiated. The puppet government we imposed is filled with rebels, the army we created for them is filled with rebels, the whole dang place is filled with rebels.

We can't keep the oil pipeline working to get the oil out. The kurdish state is going to declare independence and piss off Turkey. Iran is going to interfere in the conflicts between the shia and sunni. The EU, Russia, and China are drooling, waiting for the U.S. to get pushed out so they can negotiate with whatever strongman takes over.

If we stay, we need three times as many troops over there and it's going to cost three times as much money as we're spending. We're going to have to kill a lot more rebels and civilians.

And what are we going to get for it? Some oil, which we have to ship over here. And they can still blow up the tankers quite easily.

A draft. No stability. The same leadership that has made a million mistakes so far. Inflamed jihad. Body bags as far as the eye can see. The reputation and economic position of the U.S. around the world declines.

The other option, we leave. Cut and Run. Whatever you want to call it. I call it, "Admitting we were wrong." That's what democracy is supposed to give us the ability to do. Elect different leaders, do the right thing.

The first thing to do when you find yourself in a hole is what?

Stop digging.

Take credit for getting rid of Saddam, then admit the obvious:

Bush is an idiot, we don't deserve the Iraqi's oil, we can't 'nation-build' in the middle east. We can't afford it financially, we might need our soldiers to die for more important causes.

Then let the U.N. determine who gets what. Give the U.N. a chance to succeed or fail. Let the people of Iraq decide, even if the majority wants to split the country up or elect a despot.

Every second we are over there, we are making their problems our problems. And we have plenty of problems of our own. I would rather be posting about how to solve the traffic problems in our cities, how to make our society more energy sufficient, how to solve the health care and poverty debacles.

The only way to start seeing things get better instead of worse is to get out.

And you know what? There's no chance of that. Only a great leader could tell the American people these plain truths.

The American system was built upon the need for strong honest leaders. And now the system has evolved to make it so no strong honest leaders can get elected. No big surprise, given how much money and bs is involved. Strong honest leaders hate money and bs.

Like most disasters, there are multiple interweaving, overlapping causes. The only way out of these disasters is through sacrifice, adaptation, reason, facts and courage.

We don't have enough of that stuff, so we Americans are quite screwed. Especially the soldiers, who vowed to do whatever the decadent system told them to do out of true desire to sacrifice for something greater than themselves. (and get paid of course)

So, I am ashamed to be an American right now. I would leave if I could afford it. Any right wingers out there want me out, all they need to do is give me a check for ten grand. Thirty if they want my student loans paid.

Sorry this was so long. Hope there are enough facts. Props for a good question.

p.s. I don't actually believe in leaders, we need to make a new system that doesn't require them, so we stop having these problems with naked emperors(i.e. Bush)
p.p.s. And the American people themselves could get us out of Iraq via direct action, by forcing the system to shut down until we got our people out.

Definetly stay and finish the job
Then - hopefully - use that as a springboard to free other countries
