The new Yukon is a great vehicle but I have to suggest the Checy Tahoe or Suburban. The only difference between the Chevy and GMC is the look, but I prefer the chevys more agressive stance. The new GM suvs are #1 rated, killing the Toyota Sequia and Ford Expedetion. THey also offer the best fuel economy, room, quality, and looks. Last year Toyota had the most recalls of any manufacturer, and have many complaints of the plastic parts rattling themselves off only to be told its made of so much plastic its impossible to fix. Reliability has also gone down while the demand has risen. Ford had more recalls than GM and DaimlerChrysler combined. Fords problems have been more like exploding engines and wheels falling off. Behind americas back GM has become good, heres a quote from the Washington Posts review of the Toyota CAmry "one of which is the Chevrolet Malibu, which in my real-world driving experience has been every bit as good and reliable as the much-ballyhooed Camry but has been maligned primarily because it is a Chevrolet". That says a lot about reputation, that today means nothing. You cant go wrong with a new GM, but I would avoid ones built before '05. Hpoe this helps, and feel free to ask me any questions

The underlying chassis is similar, but the Escalade has 403HP versus the Yukon Denali with 380HP. Both have 417 pounds/foot torque. You can't get the 6.2L engine in the Yukon unless you get the Denali trim. The Escalade has a 4 year 50,000 mile bumber to bumper warranty; the GMC 3 year 36,000 miles. Both have 5 year 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty. The Escalade has a better Onstar Package. The Escalade has much more standard equipment and I like the 7 levels of chrome. The Escalade is available with Factory 22" wheels, the Denali 20".

do not buy GM, they all leak coolant. They are garanteed to leak from the intake manifold within 3 years. you have to replace the alternator and starter every 3 - 4 years. when you think all is good in year 5, the fuel pump goes. And then your mechanic tells you that the brakes are shot and that the rotors are not machineable out of the box. Must be replaced. OOps there goes the head gasket. By now you are sick and tired of the constant overheating problem. You can ignore all those warning lights that keep coming on, on the dash but the suspension noise is driving you insane. Should have brought it back to the dealer before the warranty ran out. Wait a minute, you did, but they told you to come back when there really is a problem. Feel like shooting somebody yet?
I write this from everyday experience. I fix them daily!!
p/s parts aren't cheap even for a domestic

Made in Mexico with Chinese parts. I'm a veteran, but sad too say, if you want a good car buy Japanese.

Yes, they're great.
And the 'initial quality' (defects at delivery) is better than any import right now!

it's not a car - it's a gigantic truck. Good if you live in Texas. Forget it if you live anywhere else.
