The 7.3 power-stroke diesel are great high torque and very dependable. I don't want to offend anyone but i would have to disagree with one of the earlier answers the 6.0 liter diesel are not better than a 7.3. i know this from experience almost all of my family are ford techs and all i here is how big of a peace of sh*t the 6.0 are. they run good when you buy them but they have many known problems.

If the price is right, go for it. You are better off with the 7.3L than the 6.0L. The 6.0L has been nothing but headaches for a lot of Ford truck owners. If maintained as per schedule, you will get MILES out of it. As an added bonus, you and your vehicle will walk away without much damage in a collision with a Honda Civic. The same cannot be said for the Civic though. LOL

Yes. It's great. For an suv it gets great gas mileage and reliability is not a problem. You can rely on any ford.

It's not my first pick, the 7.3 is old technology, it's lethargic, inefficiant and dirty. I would stick with an 03 or newer with the new 6.0 powerstroke it's much cleaner, more efficiate and suprisingly peepy.

it is a huge vehicle. the mileage will be bad and the maintenance will be high but they are good vehicles. if properly cared for the engine will run forever.
