if you're really that unsure about it, maybe you should go to a professional. It would be worth the extra $$ not to mess it up.

I think you're right - the lighter hair will come out lighter than the darker hair.

Blonde is a really hard color to change successfully because it can take color in so many ways. You should definitely have it done professionally. If cost is an issue, go to a Beauty School--they're inexpensive and they'll do it until it's right. Even though students are doing the coloring, they are supervised by a professional beauty instructor, so if anything goes wrong, there's a backup. Good luck! :)

go to the best hairdresser in your town. If it costs major $$, then it's something to save up for. never and i mean NEVER dye your own hair. it will probably turn out looking totally AWFUL and then you're gonna have to live with it for a really long time. anyway, the hairdresser will probably tell you what they're doing before they do it so if you have any second thoughts you can tell them. they will always know best, though

Go to a salon... they'll know what to do for you.... and they can do almost anything.

If you want to dye it yourself in future, tell them that. They can give you a color that will be easier to cover than highly contrasting highlights.

If you do it at home and mess up, you might wind up having to go get corrective color at a salon- and that's very pricey.

My best advice to you is to go to a salon. When it comes to hair coloring you want to do it right and a salon is best.
