According to the Vedic texts which came with the whole material creation. There is in the material creation Heaven hell and earth. This is the material world. Heaven is for getting your very good karma (reactions to your good activities) and hell is for getting your bad Karma (reaction to your sinful activities) (not eternal but generally a long time one goes there) Earth is where one gets a combination of good and bad karma. The spiritual heaven is situated above and beyond the material heaven . It is called Vikunta. There are millions of planets in the material world but it is said that that there are even more planets in the spiritual world and their is on planet at the top of the spiritual world that is bigger than all the material and spiritual worlds put together. The Bible calls three places 'heaven' -- the sky, where birds fly; space, where the sun, moon and stars reside; and the place of God's abode. Yet the Bible also says that God is everywhere and in everything. From this, and other Scriptures, I believe heaven is a metaphor for the highest position of power and authority. It's not a real place at all, but a level of existence.

As an agnostic I can only assume that it is/was intended to be the eutopia of a soul that is complete, rather than an actual place. Far too much of the written word is taken litterally, rather than how I believe it was intended. I.e. as a format for a life with humanity and social rule that made sense at the time.

1. Only 144,000 go to heaven. These will be kings with Christ. 2. Jesus was the forerunner; others chosen since. 3. Many others will live on earth. As for where it is does it really matter. You have to have faith. You could try Genesis chapter1 verse 7 -9

heaven is not part of the 3 physical dimensions that we as humans experience. it is in a spiritual dimension that very few people are privileged enough to see while still being allowed to live.

Heaven is relational not locational. Heaven is not a physical place.
We will be in heaven when we die but we will be spirit only. At the resurrection we will be reuinted with our bodies and God will refurbish this earth for those who are His and we will reside here in body and spirit.

heaven was actually used to mean the space outside of earth, containing the galaxy and solar system. christians took it for themselves to mean a place where we prance around on gold roads, behind pearly gates, with treasures everywhere.
