Oh, absolutely, someone said that Islam has more room in this modern world then, Evangelical Christianity, there are many other religions or ways of life e.g. Amish People etc, that arent very, as you say "modern".
I think its more of a way of how you take the instructions or rules on board and implement them into your life.
This question has obviously been asked due to the publicity Islam gets via media due to terrorism etc. I wonder why you didn't ask a question about, Evangelical Christianity or Amish people.
In conclusion, i suggest you do a bit more research into the topic before you start "assuming" what the religion is about, or perhaps look at other religions as well.
