what happens if i get into an accident under my parent's insurance, the insurance on the car is only under my mother's name. i live in california.

Your insurances goes up so do your parents.

If you live with her and/or you had permission from her to be driving, you are covered as an insured under the policy.

The car is still covered but if it's not your fault then the other driver's insurance is responsible. Be careful when driving.
