MUCH DEPENDS ON WHAT PORTION OF THE TOOTH IS BROKEN. IF IT'S CUSP (THE POINTY PART OF THE TOOTH), RESTORING THE TOOTH MAY ONLY BE POSSIBLE WITH A CROWN. EXTRACTION,MOST LIKELY, IS NOT THE BEST OPTION. IT NOT BEING PAINFUL IS A GOOD THING, BUT IT SHOULD BE RESTORED TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE TO THIS TOOTH.

When the tooth broke off, it left the tooth vulnerable to bacteria, infection and decay. It may not hurt now, but it will soon if any of these problems occur. Also, you may have set in motion a situation that will eventually expose the root. Then you will know PAIN. I know how expensive dental work can be, but you can make arrangements for a payment plan or, if there is a university dental school near, go there. The cost is relatively low.

Doing nothing will likely create a big problem.
The broke surface of the tooth will continue to deteriorate.
If the decay is bad enough, to tooth will be too damaged to cap.
The neglected tooth may well lead to an abscess, requiring an extraction AND a root canal.
Get to the dentist. This will be expensive, but continued neglect will only make it more so.

Unfortunalty you will eventually have problems. For now, you can buy a temporary filling type stuff at walmart or someplace similar. BUT eventually it WILL cause pain. Same thing happended to me, I left it like it was, about a year later it caused so much pain i finally went to dentist, but because i waited so long they couldnt do anyting but either pull it or do root canal , and without insurance, I had to opt for pulling it. If you go now maybe they can fill the hole before it gets worse. Good luck.
