I met an awesome guy online. His picture is so perfect, as is everything about him. The problem is that he lives far away, so how do I know if he is misrepresenting himself? I asked him to buy a webcam or go to an internet cafe, but he says he is just lazy or doesn't like to leave the house. I just want to know that he is being real. When I question him about my suspicions, it always ends up in an argument. Am I wrong to question him or not to trust him?

Being cautious is a good thing, never doubt yourself in being cautious. I personally have met some great friends online, who i did grow to trust in time, male and female. But trust is not something you can give to others easily and nor can it be given without knowing the real person behind the computer screen. There is no harm in having idle chat and forming friendships, but trust, personal information etc should not be given as technically, you are still strangers - you cannot always believe the words typed, you do not know who is sitting there typing them. If you have doubts, your gut instinct is usually good to go by, unless of course you are a severely paranoid person in all aspects of life, then your gut instinct is not always the best. If you are concerned, don't put your trust in him, don't give details of yourself, continue to used your side email address and see how it goes over time, See if facts, stories, details change, if he answers questions differently, does anything to cause alarm, if he pressures to see you or for details etc, then you may have cause to worry and maybe seek further help. But if he is happy to just be online friends for awhile, has the same story/answers etc, doesn't ask for info/details then he may be ok. The internet is not all bad, yes there are some seriously deranged, crazy and dangerous people, but amongst that, there are decent, nice and kind people. You just have to put your safety first and don't rush into things. Good Luck.

As you stated you dont know this guy. No one is perfect anything that seems to good to be true usually is.If you feel like he is misrepresenting himself dont continue to chat with this man. You havent met this man only a pic that could be anyone and things dont seem to heading to a relationship so why bother?

I would say go with your gut feelings. If you feel uneasya bout this person then do not continue to speak to them. If they will not show you themselves via web cam then they are obviously hiding something.

When online always try to use reputable websites.

Remember its better to be safe than sorry
