Depression, no. Anxiety, yes, due to the caffeine. My husband's a diet coke fiend. It also messes with your potassium and calcium levels, so if you're a heavy drinker, you need to take some supplements to counterattack.

No but it definitely doesn't help. You need to be eating and drinking healthily.

The caffeine in coke can bring on anxiety or make you worse because it's a stimulant. It makes your heart beat faster etc.
But it can't be the actual cause of anxiety. It needs to already be there.

Actually, the phenylalanine in diet sodas is a natural anti-depressant, combined with the caffeine it can be an upper. To much of anything is not always good for you.
