I was dissapointed as i was hoping to get it after the August registration but thought 6-8 week wait wouldn't be so bad. I am still waiting for delivery and do not expect to get it until December. I will therefore only have the vehicle for a couple of weeks before it will be registered to the previous year!! Do you think it is reasonable to ask for a reduction in price to reflect this? I have never had a new car before so i do not know the protocol and would be grateful for any help. Thanks!

I just picked up my brand new Hyundai that I ordered at the end of July, I was told it would be two weeks! Anyway, I did ask for a reduction in price, which I think is reasonable but they wouldn't budge. They did however, give me another new vehicle to drive until mine came in which made it much more bearable. Can't ever hurt to ask, the worst they can say is no!

YES, demand a reduction. Cos if you get the car in december its a bit silly. The new 07 reg comes out in april so it would've been worth waiting a further three months for that (tell dealer this) the whole point in placing the order in august was so you could have a new 56 reg very quickly, right?

If they don't lower the price, get them to throw a couple things in for free.

i would ask, or at least ask for some sort of compensation, say you have had to loan a car and have paid so much (loaned from a family member or friend) if you have no luck, tell them you would want some little extras like mats, petrol, road tax, cd player etc (depending on what the car has already got)
you have had to wait 2 extra months, thats terrible, ask if they can wait a few weeks so you have the new reg at least!
plus if it is registered to the previous year, that means the value of the car has just gone down anyway! (look it up in a parkers price guide, you'll see)

Don't want to worry you, but it's not a Jetta TDI is it?

We purchasesd one back in APril and it broke down on us right after the first month of ownership. The dealership was horrible about getting it repaird , took them two weeks to replace two engine fans. We sold it because the repair dealership was horrible.

I also forgot to mention, that your car has already decpreciated and you haven't even driven it or had it in your posession.

Check Kbb.com or nadaguides.com and see what its worth, see if it has depreciated already because the year is almost over with.

Hope you didn't alread pay for it!

good luck with your VW.

When I am going to buy a new car, I do my homework and check the internet and I can get the car I like without any problems. 6 months is a lot for a VW. Probably next year they will have a lot in the dealership.
