"Thou shalt not murder" - murder is a sin
"Go forth and make disciples of all nations" - not evangilising is a sin?

I'm just wondering if inaction can be considered a sin? Can you be sinning by simply doing nothing? Or is it only a sin when you break a law?

I'm looking for biblical examples. Either direct quotes or parables.

This is the distinct difference between the Mosaic Covenant and the New Covenant, brought by Jesus Christ: the Mosaic Covenant provided a standard by which to judge whether one has sinned; however, Born Again Christians are not held to the impossible standard of the Mosaic Covenant. We're held to the New Covenant, which tells us we're not under law but under grace.

If we sin, we've already been forgiven because of Jesus' sacrifice. If we continue to sin and lead a corrupt life, chances are we've experienced false conversion; in that case, we must repent and start from the beginning. Read Romans 6 for more insight.

If a person is truly Born Again, he or she will display the outward signs of truly being saved: gratitude for God's undeserved grace, which translates into love for our fellow human beings. The acts we do out of love and gratitude for Him are called "fruits" or "works." A Christian who doesn't bear "fruit:" isn't sinning, but should seriously question whether he or she truly has been Born Again. For example, read 1 John 3:17. We don't need a commandment to tithe, such as was in the Mosaic Covenant, to force us to give to the poor or those in need. This is something that should come naturally to a truly Born Again Christian because of the love in him or her.

So true Christians who don't follow Jesus' commandments are disobedient, but not sinning per se. However, folks who experienced a false conversion ARE sinning.

I hope this helps. Peace.

Simply put by the Apostle.......
I Yahchanan (John) 3:4—Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law.

Don't be confused, it is plan and simple Sin is breaking the Laws that you are taught to forget about it! This is the deception that worked on Eve in the garden, if you have something that works, why change your technique? Satan dosen't

Genesis 3:1-7—
1 Now the serpent was more subtle and crafty than any beast of the field which Yahweh had made. And she said to the woman; Has Yahweh indeed said: You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said to the serpent; We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Yahweh has said: You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, or you will die.
4 And the serpent said to the woman; You will not surely die.
5 For Yahweh knows that in the day you eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, your eyes will be opened, and you will be as gods (elohim), knowing righteousness and evil.
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was desirable for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized that they had sinned; they had violated Yahweh's Laws. Because they had not kept Yahweh's Laws, they were afraid.

Revelation 12:9—
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world. She was cast out into the earth, and her angels were cast out with her.

Notice, Genesis 3:7 shows that they sinned. The Theological Word Book of the Old Testament by Harris, Archer and Waltke Volume 2, page 695, shows that the Hebrew root word oram, which was translated naked in the King James Version, is correctly translated sin. Sin is the transgression or breaking of Yahweh's Laws.

It depends on the situation. If it against the law to do something then one should take the problem to the authorities and pray that God Take care of the Rest. The word is not Murder it is kill. It also means animal killing. If one eats meat they are also committing sin. Isaiah1:11,15 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? Saith the Lord: I am full of th burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts: and Idelight no in the blood of Bullocks, or of lambs, or of goats. When ye spread forth your hands , I wil hide Mine eyes from you : yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear, for your hands are full of blood." Isaiah 66:3 "He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man." All of our food is to be offered to God and if you eat meat you have sinned. Jonah did not do as asked and got swallowed by a fish. His inaction was punishable, and therefore probably considered a sin. Also in Malachi ch #3 we read about tithing, and if you do not pay it you rob God, sounds also like a sin.

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us -2 Thessalonians 3:6

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. -John 15:1

What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? -James 2:14

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. -John 14:12

Idleness and laziness could be considered a sin. But moreover our work towards God validates our faith in him. Faith without works is dead.

Well I'm now not so certain that your negatives are all poor. -Crusades I select the present authorized process to Sharia -Inquisition People used to volunteer to have their concerns heard on the inquisition on account that it was once regarded fairer. It wasn't excellent and I consider matters have elevated however it was once the greater choice on the time. Now there have been a few unhealthy occasions with overzealous members who ended up getting excommunicated for it however total was once it particularly any such poor within the historic context? -antisemitism(persecution of jews) Given all of the Catholic Church has performed within the reverse path I consider extra steadiness is wanted. Have you learn Rabbi Dalin's The Myth of Hitler's Pope? -present intercourse abuse scandal You can infrequently blame the Church as a entire for a few unhealthy eggs inside it while they're disproportionately low. Unlike the fame intercourse abuse scandals in which Hollywood stars publically pop out in aid of the perpetrators no Catholic speaks up in desire of the ones baddies. Then of path we have now the present Pope who leaves no stone unturned seeking to rid the Church of that "dust" as he describes them. -competition to birth control Like the Sharia Law factor it's once more a query of point of view. My God stated to fruitful and multiply. God is aware of fine. Would persons having intercourse with out birth control solely in marriage particularly be so unhealthy? -corruption of among the popes(like pope alexander sixtus) This is necessary of point out given the total corruption that has continuously been round? Anyway there are a couple of ideas.

Matthew 25:41
"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.' "
