Science qualifications are a big bonus, you don't have to have a degree in Zoology, but it would probably be a good idea to study it because you'd find it interesting!

The thing you're going to need most though is determination - there are hundreds and hundreds of people going after just a few jobs. Do everything you can to get experience in school and university - volunteer for everything going, at your local park, nature centre, zoo, go on overseas expeditions.
It's also probably a good idea to get some media experience - join the student paper, radio or tv station if your uni has one.

Good luck! (I'll be fighting you for those jobs all the way!)

I would recommend majoring in something in college that would be specific to your desires. For example, David Attenborough's college degree was Natural Sciences. When I return to school, I will be doing wildlife conservation as my major. Also, try volunteering at places that focus on nature/conservation/animals... such as a nature center, zoo, or local rescues and/or wildlife rehabilitations. Not only will they provide you with valuable experience, but the workers will also be able to provide resources to continue your journey in this wonderful field.
