Training a dog to use the potty someplace specific is easy, although it requires your effort initially. Your consistency will determine how long you have to be involved. Well, that and your dogs willingness to please you, and its ability to perform the requested act. When it is time for your pet to use the facilities, put a leash on him, take him to the place you want him to do the deed, and give praise or treats when desired act occurs in desired location. Do not "rub their nose in it" when you find it somewhere you don't want it! That is no training tool, it is simply abuse and a reaction to your own anger. It does nothing but create mistrust in your dog. They will not understand why you put their face in poop, it is just mean. You will get much more consistent results if you put the time and consistency into the training and use positive rewards. Good luck!

Ummm. Outside INSTEAD of in your back yard? What exactly do you mean?

DO you want to have your pet only go in one spot in your yard? Then put it on a leash and take it there, wait for success then give a high-value reward. Do not reward anywhere else. If you can catch the dog going anywhere but the designated spot, then move to the right place then praise and reward the success there.

Housebreaking is with ease setting up a dependancy. She isn't being "cussed", she does no longer recognise what you desire. Simply tying her external isn't coaching. If she has been taught to make use of dog pads, begin her with a pad close the door, after which transfer the pad external. Once she is used to going external, do away with the pad. Also, dont go away her external on my own, cross along with her. If she does no longer cross whilst you're external along with her, deliver her again in, crate her within the condominium, after which take her again out once more in an hour or so. Keep doing that till she figures out that you just desire her to head external. Keep her clear of carpeted places till she is obvious that external is the one situation she must cross. Most puppies pick to head on a delicate floor, so maintain her on tile or wooden till you realize she knows. Then you'll be able to permit her have the run of the condominium. Hopefully you or your husband also are going for walks the puppy, when you consider that with ease being tied out on a leash might force an lively puppy like a min-pin loopy.
