It truly may not matter to either of you, but there is a chance of the older being accused of statutory rape (if any intimacy is had) - know your state and federal laws.
I know it sounds ridiculous, but a begrudged parent can cause problems for the older of the two.
As teenagers, generally a year or two is what is considered "acceptable" for society.
Good luck

For now yes it is too young why not wait for the 14 year old to turn 18 then the 17 year old will be 20, and that will be just perfect.

In the eyes of the law age does matter. If a 17 year old boy is having a sexual relationship with a girl under the age of 16, he is breaking the law.

less than 16 is too young. I personally think that untill you hit about 21 people less than 2 years younger are not at the same maturity level as you. After that it increases and can be 10 years or more, its more about common interests then that determine age gaps.

Well yea it kinda matters now because your a teen and the years are 14-17 but it would be ok if if it was 21-24 so i would suggest wait a little bit longer because if she is that much worth it to u she someone to wait for

YES!! 14 is way to you for a 17 year old you have to factor in the emotional age of the person.

as long as there is nothing sexual between a 14 and 17 year old as legal age of consent is 16, then no i think that's fine, it's only 3 years, if you was 24 and your partner 27 would it make a difference? again theres only 3 years.
as long as your both happy and sensible, go for it

I have never heard of this rule guiding teen / teen relationships..
I don't think that there is a problem with a Junior in High School
dating a Freshman in high school...( 17 & 14 )....

if she's 14, and you're 17: dude: steer well away until she's 18: even when she's 16, you'd be 19, and if my friend behind me is informing me correctly, thats still statutory rape. Best to remain absolute friends and do nothing whatsoever!
