Well-said.
Had the United States focused on the prime objective (i.e., get Osama), I feel 100% certain that we would have accomplished that mission by now.
It is obvious that the key nations involved in al-Qaeda include Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as several eastern African countries.
Had American intelligence focused on those areas and conducted covert wars against this terrorist group, it could very well have wiped out al-Qaeda.
It is an established fact that Saddams' Ba'ath Party (a secular pan-Arabism party) was a potential target of Osama, who did not want any form of secularism in the middle east.
Saddam and the nation of Iraq would have been easier to control if we had CONTAINED Iraq instead of invading it.
And a hell of a lot less expensive, too, in terms of lives and money.
Pity "W" didn't read his daddy's book as to why the 41st President DIDN'T continue his push into Iraq during the Gulf War.
He might have learned something about history...something "W" majored in at Yale, but I suspect he slept though most of his classes.

Well for one thing there would be almost 3000young Americans that would be able to have Christmas this year.. probably about 10 or 15 more who would not be in hospitals. The Iraqi people would not have nearly 600,000 dead.. just for starters.
A better question might be.. If Bush had done what the people wanted and gone after Osama, who WAS responsible for 9/11.. actually concentrated all these billions of dollars on getting him and not Sadaam.. maybe we would be living in peace again by now.
We all know the fiasco that is Iraq... why we are there.. nothing to do with our peace or Osama or 9/11. This is Bush's war.. and may he burn in hell for getting us into it.

What freedoms did the Iraqis have? Rape rooms, torture, mass murder due to religion, trial without jury, genocide.
The insurgents are the same people that oppressed the Iraqis who are happy for American overthrow of Saddam.
Before you follow the left and the media blindly....talk to some of the soldiers who have been there.
You want to save lives....stop smoking, don't drink and drive, stay clean from drugs, obey the traffic laws. More people die in one year from traffic accidents then 10 years of Viet Nam

you're in basic terms getting your self right into a pissing contest. Time to enable go of the gangster mentality. both activities are operating as a crew to ruin the rustic. Whom ever comes after BHO, will proceed the ball rolling, a twin of Bush persisted Clinton's stride. stop being a lemming, and attempt to have an unique idea. there is the position the priority is, no one thinks for themselves any more effective.

Iraq would never have been a threat to the US and the world. They had nothing to do with 911. But they do have lots of oil...
But they certainly wouldn't be enjoying freedom since they were living in a dictatorship (and a pretty bad one at that).

After reading the article about Iraq in the Los Angeles Times I wonder that maybe things were better before we came into Iraq. It's a mess over there...thousands of people are leaving the country because they don't feel safe.

If we had stayed out of Iraq, the Mahdi Army would have had an insurrection in the south, the Kurds would have officially split off, Saddam would keep Baghdad, and the whole country would have been a mess. Iran would insinuate itself into a shattered nation, like they did in Lebanon, causing mischief, and worse.

the only reason He attacked them was because of 911. I live in NY and it was not a happy time at all. what bush did was the right choice. sometimes im iffy with his decisions but he is fighting for all American's and I'm 100% behind him in what he has done so far!

About 3,000 US solders would still be alive along with about 600,000 Iraqis, and Osama Bin Laden and his gang of thugs would be dead.
