I'd like to know what that was for you.

For me it was last March. A man my Dad served with in the Army called me out of the blue and asked me if he could tell me about serving with my Dad. We met, he was my Dad's best friend for 2 years in South East Asia. The stories he told me were priceless...I drank them up like a thirsty dog. One Month later we went to the very spot my Dad died...words can not describe what that was like.

That was the BEST thing that has ever happened to me...because someone was thoughful enough to pick up a phone and share something with me I'll never forget.

what about you?

When I recently finished my contract at work, one of my dearest colleagues wished me well, and we promised to stay in touch, but the nicest thing she did was she sent me an email telling me how much she loved and respected me as a person, and how much she enjoyed hearing about my faith...(I always like to use humour when I share the Gospel), and as I was leaving my desk for the last time, she hugged me and had tears in her eyes and said she'd like to come visit my church sometime. That was like winning the lottery to me, that she saw me, not as perfect, but as sincere and unfailing in my beliefs!

I recieved this video clip today in an email. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen. I haven't laughed so hard in years. (It was just of a baby panda sneezing while next to its mother.) My friend that sent it had no idea that I really needed a laugh. I mean REALLY, I really needed to laugh. It's very cathartic to have a good laugh. That was the nicest think anyone could have done for me today, and the nicest thing anyone has done for me in a REALLY long time.

But the nicest thing anyone has EVER done for me... goodness, there's been so many! I guess it would be Jesus Christ, and those who helped me become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

A friend---many years ago---introduced me to what she thought was my perfect mate. He was; our dreams, ideals, beliefs, interests, etc.,. We learned what great love there could be. I still hold on to those memories as very special.

We planned on marrying, but that didn't work out. I had two children, who I couldn't take to a country 1/2 way around the world. They would have so much more here in America. But, the memories are still there.

Taken my useless, wretched, no-good self, and given me life, beauty for ashes, strength for fear, gladness for mourning, peace for despair, and so much more. Showed my true love more vividly than I could ever imagine, for "no greater love has a man than that he lay down his life for his friends."

And yet I still have not truly touched on what I want to say. If you haven't guessed, the nicest thing done for me, was God saving me, as cliched as that may sound.

Sounds trivial next to your story, but I feel the nicest thing anyone did for me was when a friend came over and found me unconscious in the shower. My last memory was of getting ready for work, standing in the shower and thinking "Holy $hit! I'm sick and I'm going to have to crawl to the toilet to vomit!" I was severely displeased. Next memory I have was of the Brandin Brat toweling my hair off and carrying me to my bed. He left bruises on me wedging me out of my tiny shower, and another one on my jaw trying to point my head toward the 'puke bucket' he had set next to my bed. I apparently had food poisoning and he eventually took me to hospital. If he hadn't found me, I don't know what would have happened! Thank the gods for that 'open door' policy of mine!

Sounds like your fahter was behind this a little bit too. They are not gone forever, they are around you. Watching over you and it sounds to me like your Father was trying to make this connection with you too.

You will see him again...... trust me. Families are forever.

The nicest thing anyone ever did for me was to teach me the gospel of Jesus Christ. Gave me a book of mormon. Changed my life forever, lead me to the truth and now i am able to do the temple work for my ancestors who have died, have them baptized and sealed together as a family. What a blessing it is for me to have that connection wtih my family who have died. I am blessed......

Thanks for your wonderful story, I am really happy you had that. Its really wonderful.

I cannot choose just one kindness shown to me over my life. I have existed through the kindness of strangers. People are basically good.
