The quest for the almighty dollar. Those that don't have enough, need it. Those that have enough want more just for the heck of it. 100 years from now either things will be a bit more even, and the US will still exist. Or there will be a class uprising that will make the Civil War look like a kindergarden donnybrook.
You can rub a persons nose into being poor just so many times while reaching into their wallet under the supposed reason of "Taking Care of Us". Do it to enough people at the wrong time for the wrong reason, and you have an accident waiting to happen.
That's only one of the reasons the G'ovt wants your guns. It's hard to do damage to combat armored troops with rocks. What the money snatchers don't believe is that people anywhere, not just in the "sandbox", can improvise munitions from common household items, and will use them if pushed.
'Nuff said. Peace, and Ciao!

This is very sad to me but I believe it is Satan. Look at all of the stuff on TV & the internet, listen to music on the radio etc, read magazines-newspapers-books~unfortunately Satan is very much alive and growing in power not only in America but all over. But he seems to have both hands & feet firmly planted in America. And the only way to change this would be for the people of this great nation to turn back to God! But I don't see that happening any time soon but you never know because He can work miracals!!
And I know that a lot of people will read this and think: great, another religous fanatic!! But I'm not, I'm just a Christian~which seems to be a bad word now. Which confirms my answer about the greatest influence on American society.

Religion. Always has had the greatest influence, always will.
Fortunately, up until the last couple decades, America has been influence positively by Christianity. But that is changing. The decline of Biblical Christianity in America will have the greatest impact over the next 100 years.

The Media offcourse. Its everywhere. Whether its a movie, a magazine or television, the media has major influence on the American society. It somehow gives us the impression of how people should look, act, and talk.

The media and advertising. It is turning America into a materialistic country. Americans worship money more than anything else and it greatly affects our country.
