Aren't they the same? Wouldn't it be silly to tell Jesus something...then him telling himself (God, since they're the same)?

Just something my boyfriend was thinking about.. I thought it was a good question..

Wow...a lot of people really don't know.... God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are the same. Jesus isn't different from God. He's God, but in a different form..... I guess you guys have just not studied the Bible enough...

Jesus is not God. Jesus Christ is the son of Jehovah God. not God himself. he always said he was the son. when he prayed, he did not pray to himself. yes, he said when you seen me you seen the Father, he meant that he knows the Father real well. my daughter looks like me but we are not the same. people think she is my twin, but I am the mother. no one has seen God, but they have seen Jesus Christ. no one can see God and live, so they are not the same. read the bible

You can't believe that. If the religions says that The Father, The Son and Holy Spirit are just three personalities in One God, then there is no logic in that because you can call anyone of the personality and it will go to the same God. The truth actually is that ther is only One God, no One before Him and No One besides Him. Not everything that is written and interpreted in the New Testament should be trusted. Most teachings there are the complete reverse of the teachings written in the Old Testament and it is not true that the Old Testament is already nullified and void otherwise these religions will not continously take passages from every Prophets during their services and masses. If you read Deuteronomy 24 and Ezekiel 18:3-26 you will see that you are the only one who can take favor or curse from God for whatever choice you do in life. See Deuteronomy 11: 26-28 also that we have a choice to make. And God said it will happen for as He long as He lives. I do not think He is dead by now, do you?

Good question indeed, my friend. It's not really silly at all. What Jesus is saying in John 14:6 is "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me." In other words God the Father is the Creator, and God the Son is the Savior of the world. Unless you repent of your sins to God and trust his son, Jesus to save you from God's wrath then you will be judged in accordance to God the Father's righteousness. Now God the Father is perfect, so unless you're perfect you can't enter heaven. Therefore because of God the Father's love for the world, He sent his only begotten son to die on the cross for our sins so we wouldn't have to take the punishment ourselves. Isn't that awesome. That truly is a loving God. So, again we need to repent (apologize and turn away from) our sins and trust Jesus to save us from God's wrath. God is holy, and we are not. Holiness and sin cannot co-exist. So if you want heaven, you must go through the son.

Hope this helps. Tough question, but still a very good question.

I guess YOU have not studied the Bible enough, because the Bible nowhere supports a trinitarian description of God! It is a fallacy first developed by heretics and rejected by all the Church of God, but by the 4th century, accepted by the Church of Rome and some other Churches, but never universally accepted, especially by those who look to the inspired Word of God for truth and not to Traditions, myths and philosophies of men.

A Trinitarian belief will lead to MANY dilemmas such as the one you ask about, such as:
How can the Father be greater than Jesus?
How can Jesus's will be different from that of the Father's?
How could the Word empty himself of his divinity?
How can Jesus die?
How come man, who is made in the image and likeness of God, is not triune?
How is it that Jesus said he could do nothing on his own, but that the Father had to do the works?
etc., etc., etc., ...

Jesus is God's way of reconciling sinful mankind with himself.

Since there is no other way, that makes Jesus the only mediator between God and man.

Once you're baptized into the family though, you can pray to God any way you like, and address your prayers to the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit ... or all three.

That's the part our Protestant breathren can't understand, because nobody explained it quite that way in scripture.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

True. They are all the same (the Trinity) but yet they are different. The human mind cannot comprehend the concept. If you're a believer, you just have to accept it.
And, if you're not sure of what they're talking about, they mean when you repent, or pray in general, you pray to Jesus and Jesus is your link to the almighty God.

I hope this answers your question.

They are of the same essence, they are not the same person literally. There is God the Father and God the Son.

Your understanding of God is flawed Jesus is God, not the other way around. He is our go between between us and his Father. You will find in different places in the New Testament where it tells us that God raised Jesus from the dead. The dead can not raise the dead. Nor can a dead person raise him or her self; not even Jesus.

No, it is not the same. Some religions believe in God, but do not believe in Jesus. He is saying that you have to believe in and follow Jesus.

You are definitely right. God and Jesus are the same. Jesus is just a part of God "robed in flesh".
