Well said.
I'm not a religious person but damn it, our country is traditionally christian.
I respect your tolerance.
So should others.
God bless.

I personally believe it is because most people seem to shun what they can t understand. People should be accepting of other peoples beliefs whether they agree with them or not. God gave us all a free will. The world would be a better place if there was a little less ignorance and a lot less of people sitting judgement on other people. As the bible says don 't focus on the splinter in your brothers eye until you remove the log from your own. Judge not lest you be judged. I feel uncomfortable about the treatment on here too. But hope there are some intelligent people out there can have respect for the beliefs of others. That s my opinion anyway :)

Driving past a church on my way home tonight I saw a poster on the wall:
No god
No peace
Know god
Know peace
The most innane piece of illogical 'spin-doctoring' propaganda I've seen in many a long year! Look around the world... who is at the heart of war, strife, man's inhumanity to man..... yup, that god creature.
I understand that you personally might feel hurt; you have given some part of yourself over to something that some other people disagree with. So what. Have you read the postings in 'Vegetarian & Vegan'? Yet more self-righteous twaddle posted by people just following their own small minded agenda, with little concern for the feelings of people who post genuine questions in that space. Sadly, a large number of those who answer questions with 'just eat more dead animals, you fairy' type answers will often try to quote god's ideal as a war mongering animal torturer and carnivoure.
And then.... most people on here.... ARE christians from what I've seen and read. They have a snipe at 'unbelievers' at any chance they get - they want to destroy jews, they condemn muslims, they want to 'convert' pagans... they have this barmy idea that their 'good book' is somehow a coda for living, then forget that it talks about god doing a bit of 'ethnic cleansing' when it suits 'him', that it talks about human sacrifice being a good thing and has so much that is either outright falsehoods or compleatly contradictory from other parts of the same book.
Sadly, Jews and muslims tend to do the same.
They all tend to not listen to reasoned argument and refuse to see the truth. They seem to think that they are somehow 'god's chosen' and that this being that has the power to create this whole huge universe is hurt or damaged in some way when someone doubts 'his' existance.
"It's all in the bible/qur'an/tanakh"
or
"It's all god's test"
are about the only answers that they have.
Don't get me wrong I'm not anit-spiritual (although you probably stopped reading after you figured out that I'm not just writing 'hey yeah I agree god is greeeeeat, innie'). I'm anti religion. It is a made up thing certain humans created to gain power over human civilisations.
If we hadn't invented religions we could be living on several other planets by now, in a peaceful co-existance.
If you want to examine this further, read up on the subject. There is a facinating book that you should read. Christians, I'm sadly aware, probably won't, as they are very intollerant of those who seek the truth. They would sooner say that the truth lies in their bible because their bible tells them that their bible says so. circular argument.

There are ignorant people in every form of worship as well as some people who follow no form of worship. I am Pagan and there are Christians who have had a go at me in the past. If are willling to put your beliefs on the internet then you should expect some negative reaction to it. I understand about your feelings but grow a little skin.

If I told you that I was not religious for the reason that I don't believe in things that aren't real you would get angry and tell me I am going to hell and I would get angry and try to find you for saying that to me. If you want to have beliefs that is fine but just make sure you don't act superior because of it or one day you might insult the wrong atheist and find out if there is a heaven and hell. I do not knock people for there beliefs but I get DEADLY offensive when people question mine. I have a good friend who is catholic and we often discuss spirituality and god but he never crosses the line and for this I love him and we have great conversations. Peace to you I hope you find some salvation in your religion and if I am wrong put in a good word with god for me mate.

You may have feelings, but I have always had Christian views imposed upon me, and obviously I don't appreciate it very much. I don't attempt to force you to stay home from church, so why should Christians be able to dictate what is and what is not moral? Our leaders are Christian, and our laws reflect such beliefs. I am tired of your belief system, and I hope you will be able to excuse my rants and outrage. Nothing against you personally, but, really, I doubt you care about my feelings.

aw's response should give you some indication why people have a go at you. the christians that post here are generally immature, narrow minded, supercilious self proclaimed victims who have probably had priveleged lives and need to manufacture some form of suffering for themselves.
Their faith is often so weak that they will not look at evidence that contradicts their beliefs, then judge the rest of us telling us that we will all go to the pits of hell.
Does that answeryour question?

You have a right to believe what you will. Others have the right to believe as they will. No one has the right to interfere with the right of others to believe as they will.
Get everyone to agree to those terms and there will be no more hostile questions or answers on Y!A R&S.
But, just for the record, Christians aren't guiltless when it comes to stomping on the rights and feelings of others. What's more, disagreeing with you is not the same as disrespecting you.

Yes, you have feelings. That's the main reason you are a Christian. If you didn't have feelings, they wouldn't be able to hook you with emotional arguments. Religions play on human emotional insecurities to gain converts.
I don't really care if not agreeing with your religious superstition hurts your feelings. I think it is good to have feelings. Perhaps hurting your feelings will open you up to listening to what others who disagree with your beliefs have to say.

" practice what ye preach ye preachers " is another good saying as I have seen Christians " having a go " at others so this is not a one - sided affair by any means.

Why do so many Christians have a go at anyone that isn't Christian? Like posting nasty things in Pagan threads about how "I'll pray for you" and crap.
It goes both ways.
