Technically, it's not a "commandment" not to drink caffeine, as it is like coffee, tea, alcohol...We are cautioned not to partake of anything that can become addictive and caffeine is addictive. My husband and I are LDS, have been through the temple, all the good stuff...he has 2 or 3 cokes everyday. He says sometimes he wants the prophet to tell us that it is now a commandment to not drink it period, so he will stop!

Cause we have a strict health code and caffeine is a drug, an addictive drug. It makes your heart beat more beats than necessary and can wear it down.

If you want to know why we dont drink coffee or tea... its the caffiene but it is also the tanic acid which is SUPER bad for your body.

We think of our bodies as a temple for our spirits and they are sacred and to be taken care of. Its a health code that many have adopted and have reaped huge benefits.

b-cuz caffeine is damaging to the body and Mormons treat their bodies like temples. That's also why we don't get tattoos.

I know a Mormon, and he doesn't seem to have any dietary rules, I thought this pertained to Jehovah's Witnesses, though it is quite possible I am confusing them, and my friend is a poor example of a Mormon.

I went to school with a mormon who constantly drank coke. He said it was ok but then again his was a bit of a nutjob, totally obsessed with Star Wars, anime and only hung out with people 5 years his junior. If David "Naruto" Smith is in here, hi!!

THEY BELIEVE THEIR BODIES ARE A TEMPLE. IT IS NOT JUST THE CAFFEINE IT IS THE COLOR THEY DRINK CLEAR SODA. THEY BELIVE IT IS UNCLEAN TO PUT CERTAIN THINGS IN THEIR BODIES. THEY DON'T MASTURBATE EITHER. TOUCHING THEMSELVES IS A BIG NO NO.
