The definition of an atheist is:
"A person who does not believe in god"
So tell me Christians do you believe in Zeus? Odin? Thor, Ra, Jupiter, Poseidon, Mercury, etc?
If not that makes you an atheist when it comes to these gods now doesn't it? Now out of the hundreds of gods you are atheists about...if you were to drop just one more god (Jehovah) you would be a total atheist. You are actually 99% atheists aren't you?

There is only one God. Zeus, Odin, Thor, Ra, Jupiter, Poseidon, Mercury, etc. are false gods who never existed. Jehovah is God, whether you want him to be or not.

This misunderstanding can be cleared up by a simple refresher in the words youre trying to use.

MONOTHEIST- One who believes in 1 God.

POLYTHEIST- One who believes in many gods.

DEIST- One who believes in a higher creating power.

ATHEIST- One who believes there is NO gods at all.

Because I am a Chrisitian and I deny the existance of Zeus doesnt make me an atheist. I am still a monotheist because I believe there is 1 God. An atheist believes in NO gods whatsoever.

No, that's some pretty faulty reasoning. If you believe in, say, Jehovah, then you believe that God requires exclusive devotion and does not allow for the belief in any other gods.

A Christian only needs to believe in God (not gods) to not be considered an atheist.

"Why is it that many former Christians grow to be atheist after examining the bible?" i might ought to assert a huge area of it relatively is the churches' fault, as maximum churches by no skill prepare the "no longer hassle-free" components of the Bible, so while a individual gets to a sort of components and sees this is extremely different from the "sugar lined God" that they are taught approximately they have an inclination to reject the Bible and Christianity because of the fact they think of "how can God be loving, yet do all those issues". "Or, that some people, while attempting to discover evidence and help for the claims interior the bible, grow to be atheist." i've got not heard of that until now, in spite of the undeniable fact that I relatively have heard the alternative taking place... (i.e. C.S. Lewis) "does no longer it look that examining the bible might deliver one closer with God?" with appropriate analyzing it does, the undertaking is that persons tend to study what's asserted yet proceed to be blind to the small print interior the story that the Bible would not point out, working example the Bible would not communicate approximately how Baal (the "greatest" God interior the area that the Israelites had conquered) replaced into worshiped by skill of putting a stay infant on a heated statue (in reality cooking it alive) as a sacrifice

Atheists don't believe in any God. Christians believe in a God. Because they believe in at least one Supreme Being, they cannot be classified as Atheists.

Ah, Sweetie, you really tried on that one didn't you.
Christians only will believe in one True god. All the others, even if their existence was even up for debate, would not be considered gods at all; therefore, your argument is moot.

My question to you would be: What is the motive behind this question. Are you trying to justify your non-belief in God? Believe in what you want...but it is bad form to try to justify yourself by trying to make others wrong.

I like this question, as I have used this example many times on Yahoo.

I believe they believe in G-d. I just do not believe alot of them accept the Jesus part-----it is very illogical. G-d would not come to earth in human form. I think these Christians rant and rave about unbelievers going to hell, and how they must believe, etc.,
because they are trying to practice a religion they themselves do not truly believe. Who are they trying to convince? Others or themselves?

This runs along the same lines as the "Atheists are their own religion" argument.

You are simply ignorant of the definition and use of the word Atheist

atheists believe in NO god. it doesn't matter is you denounce the existance of the other gods or not. by your logic then everyone on this earth is an atheist of some sort. just as long as you believe in a god then you arn't an atheist

Well, christianity is suppose to be the truth and their god is the only god. An atheist is I guess based on christianity. If you notice, The world is viewed mainly through christian eyes which is justified and is the only truth.
