I don't believe in the devil. Evil? Sure, there is evil everywhere and I choose to stay away from it. You shouldn't have to have a lake of fire in the back of your mind to make you do the right thing.
I do take responsibilities for my actions and have learned from my many fallings...I would never blame my own stupidity or ignorance on "The Devil Made Me Do It". That's just plain stupidity in itself. You are the one who makes decisions in your own life and You Alone should be held accountable. I try to live my life spiritually and peacefully. When drama is brought into my life, I try to keep it at bay...but I will defend myself and my family without hesitation if need be.
Blessed be...and good question. I am interested in seeing your other answers as well.

We have the freedom to make all of our own choices, and we are held accountable and responsible for them all. God does not control us like a puppet. God gives us direction and help in our life walk. We decide what we will, and He will be right there with us whether we choose what is right or what is wrong. The devil is very real, influencing people and their decisions. Do you really think some normal guy goes crazy for no reason and rapes 20 girls then kills them? Just outta nowhere? You act based on what you walk with.

the devil has never been my own personal scapegoat because i am a christian i know that i have the same choice as Adam and eve did back in the garden of Eden.i can either accept Jesus and his father, with the full knowledge in doing so brings certain responsibilities, morals and principles in which i should conduct myself. if i choose not to do IT, its my choice and the devil did not lead me to do it. the devil only puts the tools in front of us so that we may weaken our faith and stumble. we all die and Satan had caused that to become into existence, he already has gotten every human to pay the price for sin, what i focus on is doing what i can during my life, so that when judgement day comes before me, the good in my life, will will outdo the evil things i may have done in my life. Satan has only the influence upon me that i allow. i have the freedom to think and do what i want. if i go ageist gods teachings, then i am no better then Adam was, and i reap on judgement day what i have sewn

The term "scapegoat" actually comes from the Jewish custom of releasing the sins of humans into a goat and letting it escape into the wild. Goats are often considered symbolic of Satan, and often, the escaping goat was used for its symbolism. So, yes, in certain ways, the Devil is always a scapegoat...
Personally, I feel that Christians use the Devil as a scapegoat far too often for the actions of themselves and of those around them. Personal responsibility is in, some senses, all but forgotten.

Whether we think our actions are caused by the devil or not, we still own them and their consequences. The devil made me do it is not so much an excuse as an admission of inability to captain our own ship, however temporarily. Still, the devil is a good model for mental illness because once you embrace it, it's hard to kick it back out and it behaves like a stubborn devil that has occupied you.

I find the opposite situation to be true in many cases. People think by doing away with the notion of God and Satan that they can do whatever they like without having to answer to anybody. Seems to be a method employed to try and silence threir own conscience.

my friend-
No, because the devil is manmade concept that we blame our problems on. It seems like you're having problems with your religious views? ever consider being atheist? it solves all problems. lol jk but still look into it. read the Bible a few more times...
Me- yeah ..."God" gave us the choice...thts why we dont have to follow any of his laws ::wink:wink:: and stuff....read teh bible and mayeb ull find this out
If god gave us teh choice...then why did he give us laws to follow...and anyone who dissobeys them will eventually go to hell??? Why would he do tht? its like braking a promise or like....taking a presant back form a little kid...
My FRIEND-
see, my friend makes somewhat of a point. "God" n\

I like the way you think. I asked a question earlier as to why humans credit God for THEIR hard work. But it is true, if something happens BAM it's the Devil's Fault.

without a lake of fire then why take responsibility at all?
We are all held accountable for every thing we do in this life.
God doesn't control us, He let's us do what we want, I mean if God controlled us then there wouldn't be any atheist's now would there.

not everyone, especially children can grasp such an advanced concept of that in which you have written.
Sometimes fear of falling down is a much better motive to do better, than actually falling...
