Truss roofing is bad for fires because it's difficult to insulate with fire retardant. That was a major factor in the collapse of the floors of the World Trade Center... don't know if that would be an example you can use for your paper.

The worst thing about them is they use small members (light angles) and can catastophically fail during a fire. See world Trade center collaspe.
