Yes, some people take religion far to seriously. I've never understood why someone has to "fight for God". Can't God take care of things himself?
It seems like that might be the ultimate in hubris.

Actually, as much as I would like to bash religion, I don't really think religion is to blame for all suffering and war. Humans naturally cause conflict, and often we only need some small excuse to begin killing each other. Religion, especially in the hands of powerful people, does lead to war, however, it is human nature to want to defend and fight for whatever you believe, even if it is an obvious fairy tale.

Oh i certainly do see that radical religious groups are at war that's the whole reason we are even in it is because of that.

It comes back to the problem of god = truth and the viral nature of many religions. If each group believes their religion is truth, and wishes to impose it on the other, then this will lead to problems.
The problem ends when religions universally either 1. stop believing that god is truth or 2. stop believing it is necessary to force the world to live by your precepts.

No, I see the unfaithful causing wars. The deceiver and distractor will do anything, including world war, to keep us away from the love and mercy of the one true God.
