I'm getting married soon! And I told my man that I wanted a really unique wedding... I heard of one football crazy couple that had everyone attending wear a football jersey and the theme went from there... I'm not too sure i fI want to do exactly that.... but I thought it would be interesting to hear about other interesting weddings...

You need to center it around something that is meaningful to you and your fiance. You must share common interests. List them and then think about what you can do to use that as a theme.

Personally, I'd love to attend a costume party wedding. I think that would be a blast!

My Mothers second wedding was a costume party themed wedding and for my Aunts 30th anniversay she renewed her vows and had a hillbilly wedding. So we were all wearing clothes like the beverly hillbillies and for seats we had bails of hay and used old stocks of corn and sunflowers as decoration as well as old wine jugs, etc. We had it at my Moms farm and we had the farm animals in the wedding and then we had an old tractor drive everyone up to the hall in stead of people drinking and driving it was actually a blast! She (My Aunt) even made little redneck ornaments for the tables like: redneck center piece a chunk of wood with stick matches "as candles" and a bunch more little things like that. It was totally fun, everyone got into it!

But as the other person said the best way to have a themed wedding is to pick something that suits the both of you!

Themes are fun but you just have to keep a couple things in mind. Keep it simple and easy. If you pick something too off the wall like Victorian or Queen Elizabeth it's hard to find costumes and people don't want to spend alot of money on costumes. Pick something easy and fun. Keep in mind, not everyone will dress up- so have something as a favor that might work... like if you do the pirate theme like suggested above- give eye patches and gold coins as favors...
We were going to do Halloween but decided against it because then it would be crazy with all the costumes and I wanted to see peoples faces in my pictures. Something else you might want to think about- you might not want masks.

We had a pirate wedding! ARRRR.

We've been a part of a pirate re-enactment guild for a few years, and got married this September at the Ojai Pirate Faire - an annual event we had attended several times with our guild. One of our guildmates is an ordained minister, and he married us wearing his best piratical finery. The "aisle" we walked down was lined with two rows of pirates with their swords crossed in the air. The "flower boy" was a kid dressed as Bootstrap Bill Turner, with seashells glued to his face. The musicians from our guild played a period song about a pirate and his bride. The vows were written by our guild-mistress (a.k.a. my matron of honor), and had to do with the ship that is our marriage on the waves of the sea of life etc, very beautiful. The rings were presented in the pirate treasure chest. After the ceremony, we walked down to the lake and shot blackpowder cannons and flintlocks 'til we were blue in the face. :) We had a "blast"! Har har. The evening was filled with rum and revelry, and whatever was left of the "wedding night" was spent in the canvas tent at our piratical camp. It was great, everyone had fun; I would do it again in a heartbeat!

With the World Series in town last month- a couple was married with Baseball Jerseys on. People also get married at NASCAR races or "honeymoon" at a Nascar event.

I've also heard of medieval weddings...no forks, just knives too! And they had jousting. It was at some place in Toronto that has medieval days

There's a show called "Weird Weddings" - I don't recall which cable channel it's on. (Maybe it's E?)

It has covered - Renaissance themes, nude weddings, "The plunge" (couples going down waterslides), Goth, parachuting, etc.

Best of luck to having a fun & memorable Wedding!!

At the place where I bought my dress they had photos of a wedding of bikers. If you ride, this could be a great idea. A pair of really nice jeans, t-shirt, leather vest and your girls in similar attire.
